The Retired Police Officers Council (RPOC) is a large non-profit Florida Corporation organized and incorporated in 1983 for retired Federal, State, County and City law enforcement officers, correction officers, as well as law enforcement direct support personnel.
Our strength in numbers, now over 1,200, helps our members retain the benefits we now have as well as gain additional benefits as they present themselves. Your Board of Directors meets in Miami at scheduled times throughout the year either in person or via Zoom, depending on circumstances, and gives reports on and discusses RPOC activities and other retirement and organizational related issues. Each year we have a well-attended four-day weekend annual reunion at varied locations in Florida that are very affordable giving old and new friends the opportunity to enjoy one another’s company. You do not have to be an RPOC member to attend the reunion or other events if you are an ACTIVE law enforcement, corrections officer or support personnel! Additionally, we have a RPOC “job network” to assist our members who may be looking for part-time or full-time post-retirement employment.
The RPOC has a separate incorporated "Retired Police Officers Council Love Fund" that is a Federal IRS "Tax Exempt" 501(C)(3) corporation. This provides our members support through their voluntary efforts. Additionally, our members and friends can volunteer their time at various fund raising events. As a service to our members, we provide space on our website where we post business card advertisements for their side/private business separate and apart from the law enforcement profession. For those non law enforcement persons or businesses who wish to advertise on our website, we charge a nominal fee that goes directly to support our scholarship fund.
Current members of the RPOC receive the every other month published South Florida Police Benevolent Association publication, HEAT, which contains local, state and national law enforcement-related news, as well as our own “Retired Police Officers News” update and local activity article. This is supplemented by our own eNewsletter and regular posting on our social media pages. As noted, we provide retirement related information relative to those in the laws enforcement profession and our membership, that is diverse, encompassing organizations such as the Hispanic Police Officers Association (HPOA), the Progressive Officers Club (POC), the International Police Association (IPA), the Shomrim Society and of course our parent group The South Florida Police Benevolent Association (PBA).
The initial membership fee to join the RPOC is $35.00 with a very affordable annual renewal fee each January of $30.00. Our only membership requirement is that you are in fact an honorably retired, Federal, State, County, or City law enforcement officer, correction officer or you are a retired department employee who was employed in a direct support position.
